Recent Updates to the Casamba SMART program
There have been several recent updates to the Casamba program, and though we have sent out email notifications regarding each specific change, we thought it may be helpful to also capture this information in one spot.
First, a new payor option was added, called HMO NR, or HMO Non Rehab. This was updated because as of 7/1/14, Medicare Advantage Organizations require HIPPS reporting on the same schedule as PPS, though the per diem rate is not impacted by this reporting. In other words, a 5 day, 14 day, 30 day, etc is required on these residents, but the minutes reported do not change the daily rate received (though we've since learned that at this point we do need to add a RUG level to each ARD in the planner to close out month end).
Then, on August 7, we announced the addition of the SYNERTX Resource Guide under the File Documents section in SMART. We've been working on putting this together for quite some time, and hope you find it a useful and comprehensive tool. Please let us know any feedback you may have on the information provided, and remember, it is searchable!
In the evening of August 11, an update to the SMART mobile application was applied. In addition to correcting some previous bugs that periodically caused issues with syncing and with the accuracy of the actives list, the following changes were implemented:
Documents can be deleted from the iPad if added or updated in error.
Sync can occur without first punching out of the facility for the day. However, treatment times must be distributed, daily notes must be completed and required data for new POCs must all be entered.
Co Treatment minutes can now be added manually using the COTREAT button under the distribute screen.
Lastly, on August 14, daily notes are required in the desktop version of SMART for all payors and for each CPT code billed, just as it is in the mobile version. This change was implemented because of the increased focus on the daily notes during the appeal process for all payors, including Medicare, HMO and Medicare B.
As always, please contact the Operations Department via email ([email protected]) or phone (888-873-4221 ext 519) if you have any questions or would like additional information on these updates.
